30 years ago, Kenosha could be defined as a factory town, home to Nash, American Motors, Renault and Chrysler. 60 years ago, this same city was defined as a shipping port on the Great Lakes. Today, the rise of the creative class has resulted in opportunities for the arts and culture of Kenosha to shine.

2010's Art of the Draw playing cards were a success. 54 artists contributed original art to the face cards. Local artist Joshua Frazer designed the box. New artists have contributed to a new deck of cards for 2011, due for release on Saturday, December 10, during Second Saturdays activities in Kenosha's downtown and lakefront locations.

We wish to collaborate with our community's writers, visual and performing artists, historians, storytellers, business people, health care providers, faith-based institutions, local government, service clubs, nonprofit institutions and those who cannot be hemmed in by categories in order to tell the story, show the lives and interests, explore ideas, and celebrate Kenosha and the region, its strong resource of talent, and its past, present, and future with you. Write & Sketch at Black-Eyed Press
Join us on Saturday, February 18 from 10 AM-NOON at Black-Eyed Press, 312 Sixth Street, in Downtown Racine, WI where artists and authors will gather to sketch (in words or lines) models in traditional Indian clothing. The models will be available from 10-11 AM. In the second hour, enjoy the gorgeous expanse of Black-Eyed Press to write about or sketch the surroundings or objects in the gallery and printmaking areas. FREE. Newbies always welcome. NO RSVP needed.
